The Unnecessary Ramblings of an Idealist

*Statutory Disclaimer*: "I'm an Idealist; and I'm VERY visibly politically impractical as well" That does not take away the fact that philosophy must guide political correctness. ***These seemingly Anarchist views are of my own. (Just putting it out there since I've been tagged as an Anarchist by a right inclined friend of mine.) Political Correctness has given way to elephant in the room. Which justifies violence in the name of "Right-wing fundamentalism". Although it has not taken a form we expect it to; In India, it still is getting there. In the form of seemingly moderate and secular policies/laws that choke minorities from exerting its rights. In the veiled form of "Development" and tarnishing the efforts of being independent for 60+ years. I agree with the right-wing talks about "Appeasement fo r too long" and it makes sense! But have you thought about what could be done better. The narrative of "A better option...

Gratitude...

Gratitude I just found some time to write again, with only the din of the A/C in the hotel room that   I am in , in Manila. And after quite some time, I let the feeling and fact sink in; that I actually sang in a South Indian movie. The movie in question being "Ezra"; hither-to unreleased at the moment I write this. I did have a one-sided conversation about this with my friend in a rum-triggered reverie (I'll choose to call it reverie and NOT rant because I tend to talk quite a bit when intoxicated and most of my deepest conversations with myself happen in this wonderfully reflective cocktail of music and whiskey/alcohol.); about how more than a so-called talent that I probably have, what was more interesting was a chain of events that led to me being very close friends with the person who eventually composed the song I sang, and as a result of that I was "asked" to sing. Life is cruel, when it comes to rewarding a lot of people who put in determination...

Pearls

I'm glad I touched your life in the smallest way possible... Did I tell you that that's exactly what I want my life to be? To touch someone's life in such a profound way that they probably do not remember who I am..But how I loved them? Old school romance you see..I've always told people that my romance belongs to the 70s. "I know not why I love you; I just do"...Just like "children" my age do...:D You're the first time I've been poetic with. Let's say I've never been fortunate enough to fall in love with someone who I can go ALL THE WAY with. Probably why I cherish the moments I'm with you and throw caution to the wind! That's how I want it to be... A wonderfully strung thread of "Pearls" that remind me of moments... With of course a couple of...errrmmm..."Charcoal" maybe?... Because what's life if not for the bad moments here and there... Exactly why pearls look much more...

Smile

What would you call happy? A person or an experience? I would not know how to say Does love require material or a sense? Your smile is but a pebble that skims over water, Touching many o'er the fabric of time And of those touches so many; Is one I consider mine...

The Selfish You

A lot of us pride ourselves being born in to a country of billions... We pride ourselves in being born into the family we are in...We pride ourselves in being born into a particular re(li)gion within a nation... We take pride in all things collective...But not in things individual... So the next time you accomplish something...T ake pride in yourself... DO NOT thank your family..DO NOT thank society... And most importantly DO NOT THANK GOD.... Thank yourself; because it's YOU who did what you did...Thank your values and conscience... And not people...The only entity that drives you to be a part of the larger collective is your conscience; and if you don't allow it to thrive, you're nothing but a drop in an ocean of millions... Selfishness isn't vile; Neither is Individuality

Fear

Fear says a lot about the man To strive to ignore it; Is but a fool's wish Fear creates solutions Fear negates lifelessness Fear is white Fear shouldn't let you lose sight Fear writes stories for the man To strive to erase them; Is nothing but a leash Fear colors living Fear is black Fear is the color we almost always lack Fear shouldn't be a negative. Look at it closely; and you'll know it is a source of immense inspiration. Fear is a direct consequence of the the unknown. You almost usually fear something you don't have a solution for. Think about it. What do you do when you fail your exams? I do not know. What if I my loved ones pass away? I'm not sure what I'd do. What if I lose my "first" job? I don't know what I'd do. What if I die? Oh well, just be glad you cease existing and your ability to brood ends with it. Don't you see? Fear is one of those things that motivate us.  Fear is what keeps us going....

Did You Start From Zero

Did you start from zero? Do you KNOW what's it like to be so Did you stand shoulder to shoulder? Do you know what it feels like beyond the yonder? Where do you first see? Do you see it on the walls? Or do you see it at the fences Do you see the demons merciless Or the civilians defenseless The wind blows through the void Passing through is what we often avoid Did you start from zero? Do you know what it's like to be so? I just wrapped up an interesting conversation with an "Indian" who is of the opinion that our next door neighbours are the promulgators of violence. The question that leads us to is, "Do we paint the same color on the canvas?" Would you empathize with the scores of innocent kids who lost their lives in the Peshawar school shootings? Or would you choose to empathize with the kids and "their families" who lost an important piece in their very human existence? Who do we blame? Do we blame the commoners who...
